After creating your own help center via Trengo, a custom URL as 123456-[name].trengohelp.com will automatically be created on which the help center will be hosted. However, it’s also possible to host your help center on your own domain.
Create a CNAME record
To host your help center on your own domain, you first need to create a CNAME record.
A CNAME record is a DNS record used to link an alias name to a canonical domain name. These records are usually used to link a subdomain such as support.domainname.com to the domain where the content is hosted.
The creation of a DNS record differs per domain. Make sure you pick a clear name and that it refers to custom.trengohelp.com.
Host a help center on your domain
After creating a DNS record, follow the instructions below to host the help center on your own domain.
1. Navigate to Help Center and select your help center;
2. Select ‘Settings’ and scroll down to ‘Advanced settings’;
3. Select ‘Custom domain’ and insert the subdomain you wish to use for your help center;
4. Click ‘Save changes’;
5. Send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org, including your hosting domain, requesting an SSL certificate. We will then make sure an SSL certificate will be placed on your domain. A help center without one will not appear in your website widget and will not be secure.
After the SSL certificate is placed, you are now successfully hosting your help center on your own domain.
