This version of our Privacy Statement has been updated to give you a better understanding of how we treat personal data. The updated document contains specific information concerning new data protection regulations, including GDPR.

Trengo (we) facilitate “Unified messaging” on our domain. Our clients have access to a multi-channel (team)-inbox which makes it possible to link or synchronize contact channels (hereafter: channels) such as email, chat, messaging, text and spoken communication.

Privacy and Security Standards

Whether or not, we fulfill the role of Controller or Processor, we always ensure that the parties we work with adhere to the common Privacy and Security Standards.

We won’t share your information with third parties without your permission, except when we’re required to do so by legal obligations. We will only respond to government requests when we are legally obliged to do so.

We don’t use data other than specifically issued by the customer who provides the data. For example, if you mail or message Trengo in order to request more information, we’ll use your data to send a reply to you. If you then decide to become a customer, we will need additional information (this includes your billing address).

We never collect more data than we need and may ask for additional data at any given though appropriate time.

Collecting data

When browsing our domains we automatically collect data by placing cookies and trusted tracking technologies on your browser. The information we collect helps us to maintain and improve our website and business and usually includes your IP address, browser type, the pages you've visited and in what order, and if your a new or recurring visitor. You can always change your preferences in your browser settings and the cookie settings on our domain. Each setting has an explanation of the implications of accepting that setting or not.

When “Filling out” a web form, “Talk to Us” through our live chat window, “Send Us an email or Instant Message”, we hold the right to use the data you provide. It is important to know that third parties may be involved, depending on those services and service provision that are chosen. There is a possibility that these third parties process said data outside the EU/EEA.


When creating a free trial account, you need to fill out some personal data. The information we ask for is limited to what we actually need to provide you with access to the trial account.
We always ask you to authenticate yourself when activating your account. This is done by means of sending an activation link to the email address you provided.

When you start using Trengo during or after your free trial, we will ask you for your emailaddress and phone number. Your mail and number is used to mail and Call you during your trail and it allows our support and/or sales team to contact you.


When buying Call or SMS credits or subscribing to a plan, we need billing information including your company details, billing address and preferred payment method(s). If you integrate our APIs into your software application, you'll be given an authentication token that allows us to identify you when you send or recieve API requests.

If you're already a customer and you reach out for assistance through our website, we'll use the data collected from your account. That gives us relevant insight into how you’re using our platform, what your business needs are, past support issues, and so on.

Technical and organizational measures

Trengo has taken sufficient technical and organizational measures with regards to the intended processing of personal data, in order to prevent loss and/or any form of wrongful processing (for instance unauthorized cognizance, degradation, alteration or provision of personal data). The same applies to supervision of access to a building or office spaces, by means of utilizing personal access passes, verification by personnel and CCTV. The data is redundantly stored. The network connections themselves are secured via Secure Socket Layer (hereafter: SSL) technology.

N.B. Please note that the client only makes personal data available to Trengo for processing if said client has made sure the appropriate security measures are in place.

Account information

If you want to edit your account information, you can do so by logging in to your account. Otherwise, by sending a request to We’ll process your request as soon as possible. If a request is of a more complicated nature, our response time can be longer. When you choose to delete your personal data, we hold the right to hold onto anonymized and aggregated data. If we do so, nothing will be able to identify you personally in any way.


You agree that Trengo may use your Company logo in sales presentations, marketing materials and press releases, and to develop a brief customer profile for use by Trengo on Trengo websites for promotional purposes

You agree not to use or permit use of the Trengo services, including by uploading, emailing or otherwise transmittingany material, for any purpose that may menace or harass any person or cause damage or injury to any person or property, involve the publication of any material that is false, defamatory, harassing or obscene, violate privacy rights or promotebigotry, racism, hatred or harm, constitute unsolicited bulk e-mail, “junk mail”, “spam” or chain letters; constitute aninfringement of intellectual property or other proprietary rights, or otherwise violate applicable laws, ordinances or regulations. Trengo reserves the right to remove or disable access to your account and any material that violates the foregoing restrictions. Trengo shall have no liability to you in the event that Trengo takes such action. You agree to defend and indemnify Trengo against any claim arising out of a violation of your obligations under this section.

Neither of us shall be responsible for failure or delay of performance. We always will use reasonable efforts to mitigate the effect of a force majeure event. If such event continues for more than 30 days, either of us may cancel unperformed services upon written notice.

Changes Privacy Statement

We reserve the right to change, update, modify, or remove any part of this Privacy Policy at any time. If any modifications substantially affects your rights under this statement, we will send you an email where possible. You can always decide to continue to use our services or not in accordance with the new terms.
